Internet WI-FI radio explained
Internet radio has been around since the 1990's. Although available, these internet radio stations were only accessible by visiting the broadcaster’s site and there was usually a link to listen to a live broadcast or podcasts. This meant that you needed to have your computer turned on the whole time.
While this is an acceptable solution it's not really convenient if you just want to listen to radio but don't want to have to switch on your computer just to listen to radio. Now you can use an OXX Digital Wi-Fi Music Centre and listen to these radio stations without having to switch on your computer. Connecting the OXX Wi-Fi Music Centre to your wireless LAN, or your wired LAN enables you to quickly access your favourite radio stations.
Wi-Fi Music Centre radios pick up a signal from your wireless connection which is broadcast from your wireless router. A wireless router sends out a wireless or Wi-Fi signal that you would usually use to enable to use the internet on your laptop without wires. Some models also have the possibility to connect through LAN if you do not have a Wi-Fi router.
To listen to Internet Radio you will need to make sure you already have a broadband internet connection and a wireless or LAN router. If you have these you can easily connect the Wi-Fi Music Centre to your wireless LAN or your wired LAN and listen to your favourite radio stations and podcast.
